CSI:NY farewell

To ten million fireflies,
I'm weird 'cause I hate goodbeyes,
I got misty eyes as they said farewell
(they said farewell)

But I'll know where several are,
if my dreams get real bizarre,
'cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar
(jar, jar, jar)

So Friday May 16 even my season 10 ended. Did you like it? Would have you liked to watch it on tv?
I'm curious of hearing some of your thoughts!
Hope you like my idea!
It's officially over!
P.S. I'd like to write a little spin-off with characters never appeared in the series: Det Alex Hanan and Det John Hansen. If I'll havetime I'll write the story! 6-7 episodes max.

CSI New York Episode XXVII Season 10

EPISODIO XXVII: OF HIDEOUS CREATURES AND VALIANT MEN

Previously on CSI: NY

"Look who it is! Detective Messer! I thought you would not come!"
Danny didn’t answer and he sat down with Sheldon waiting for the trial to begin.
The clerk of the court stepped forward "All rise! The Court enters! Judge Vander presides over the judicial hearing!" he said.
Judge Vander sat down in his place "Be seated!" he said, the room sat down and he continued "The accused Ben Maxwell is here to be judged for the crimes committed and for the possible conspiracy against the United States of America!"…

Taking over this town, they should worry,
But these problems aside I think I taught you well.

"Look at the computer and hold the phone at your fingertips!" she said walking in the hallway "When I’ll be back I’ll have to tell you something!"
"Cannot you say it to me now?" Mac smiled accompanying
"No! I can only tell you it's a beautiful thing! At least, I believe it can please you and make us happy!" Christine smiled…

That we won't run, and we won't run, and we won't run.
That we won't run, and we won't run, and we won't run.

And in the winter night sky ships are sailing,
Looking down on these bright blue city lights.

"The letter is proving to be interesting! I'm following your theory of names and there's your last line! "
"How it ends the letter?"
"To cut short, you lose the Child of the handsome one who is no more strong like a lion!"
Mac thought about it "It would be the first time that a letter is not addressed to me!"
"Yeah, but who is the addressee?" Angela asked
"Check it out while I am away!"…

And they won't wait, and they won't wait, and they won't wait.
We're here to stay, we're here to stay, we're here to stay.

"Did you find anything?"
"Yes! It is a clear message about where the body is and maybe it was the same murder to leave it to us! I'm analyzing the traces of DNA found under one of the letters attached to the sheet!" a noise call their attention
"We're lucky! The CODIS also had this trace!" Jo exulted…

Howling ghosts they reappear
In mountains that are stacked with fear
But you're a king and I'm a lionheart.
A lionheart.

"I was wondering when chloral hydrate would begin to effect you! It’s since we are here that you have been above that manhole! It was not easy to make it odorless!"
Mac blinked more vigorously "I won’t let you to implement your plan!" he fell on his back leaving his grip on the gun
"It's already started!" J.J. he said approaching him…

"Where is Lindsay? Why Flack told me on the phone to not move?" Jo said seeing Jamie returning alone
"A thing happened!" Jamie exclaimed while the street was filled with the sounds of ambulances and police vehicles
"What?"
"Lindsay was injured! The killer was in there! Flack shot, but the cleaver struck Lindsay in the chest! Flack is with her now!"…

His crown lid up the way as we moved slowly
Pass the wondering eyes of the ones that were left behind.
Though far away, though far away, though far away
We're still the same, we're still the same, we're still the same.

"Sheldon, we will return to New York! You will see your daughter be born and I will see my children grow up! We'll get to eighty years old to walk in the park complaining about our wives and how the youth is immature and has no values!"…

"The message that J.J. had done to write to Christine was for her and not for Mac!" Angela explained "The message says that Christine will die, Danny and Sheldon will die and that she has lost Mac!"…

"You're gonna pay!" Mac said spitting up blood "Don’t tell him anything Christine!"
"Nine!"
Mac was struck between his legs and his loud scream of pain filled the surrounding space
"No, Mac!" Christine screamed.
J.J. took the gun and pointed it to Mac’s temple straightening his head because his tearful eyes would been able to meet those of Christine "We got to ten, Chris!" he said lowering the cock "Do you really want me to?"
"Stop!" Christine screamed "I'll tell you everything! I promise!"

Howling ghost they reappear
In mountains that are stacked with fear
But you're a king and I'm a lionheart.

"He shot the bomb that you've built up in your brain!" Mac said trying to calm down "Is it true that you're pregnant?"
"Yes! Who told you that?"
"Try to guess it!" Mac said feeling the blood trickling from his nose "Was it what you would want to tell me tonight at home?"

And in the sea that's painted black,
Creatures lurk below the deck
But you're the king and I'm a lionheart.

"Detective Messer is critical and the next several hours will be decisive! While Dr. Sheldon Hawkes is still in the operating room!"
Jo took a deep breath "Tell me the truth about Dr. Hawkes!"
"Actually, I cannot tell you more!"
"I'm his wife!"

And as the world comes to an end
I'll be here to hold your hand
Cause you're my king and I'm your lionheart.
A lionheart.

Mac threw himself on J.J. and he managed to disarm him "As I told you, it's over!"
"For you it's over!" J.J. smiled showing the ring of a grenade.
Mac looked at the object with horror before to stand up and be thrown to the ground by the explosion who brought down one of the walls.
Shortly after, Mac coughed trying to figure out where his rival was, he instinctively reached out to grab the gun next to him and he pointed it at J.J. who had been crushed by the wall…

A lionheart
A lionheart
A lionheart
A lionheart
A lionheart
A lionheart
A lionheart

At that moment the phone rang
"Detective Hawkes!" Jo replied. She put her hand over her mouth and began to cry "Tell me that's not true, Flack!"
"Unfortunately, yes! Mac is with her now! He doesn’t want to leave her! I fear that if the ambulance won’t arrive soon even for him..."
"How much blood has Mac lost?" Jo asked
"Too much!" Flack replied with sadness "J.J. has achieved his goal: he has destroyed us and he escaped! I'll call you later when we get to the hospital I have to help Mac!"…

Howling ghost they reappear
In mountains that are stacked with fear
But you're a king and I'm a lionheart.
And in the sea that's painted black,
Creatures lurk below the deck
But you're the king and I'm a lionheart.
A lionheart. [x8]

Mac, with eyes full of tears, looked again at Christine’s face
"Don’t leave me! Wake up! I implore you, Christine!" he stood on his knees with difficulty.
The policeman who was replacing him stepped aside, tired
"You have to live! We have two children who are waiting for us!" Mac began to squeeze back onto her chest as hard as he could do "If not for me, do it for them! Breathe!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christine opened her eyes and found herself standing in the room that had been assigned to her since she worked for the FBI.
She looked around and she saw that the bed was perfectly in order
"Christine!" a voice behind called her
"What are you doing here in the room? You should be ready to come down now!" a second voice added.
Christine turned "Mom? Millie? What are you doing here?"
"Don’t you remember anything?" Millie asked her
"What am I supposed to remember?"
Her mother approached her "Don’t get flustered, but you're dying!"
"No! It isn’t possible! Mac is... he..."
Millie approached her "Mac is knuckling down to it! Both he and Detective Flack are trying! In a little while Mac will run out of steam and he will be in life-threatening!" she took her hand
"Where are we going?" Christine asked
"You have to follow us! We want you to come back to Mac!" her mother explained.
The trio descended the stairs and began to observe the hall, in which Mac and Christine had danced, empty and flooded with light that resembled the sunrise
"Where are all the people?" asked Christine
"Here, there's just us!" Millie exclaimed "Let's go into the garden!"
The three started walking and Christine was dazzled by the bright light of the sun on her face as soon as the door opened
"Is it May even here?"
"My little one, here there is no time!" her mother said to her
"There’s never been a fountain here!" exclaimed Christine
"Why do not you look into it?" Millie suggested to her "You may find something you don’t know!"
Christine sat at the edge of the tub and she looked into it
"Who are those kids? Whom does the voices I hear belong to?"
"Don’t worry Christine!" her mother reassured her "It's all right! Keep looking!"
Christine stared at the water.
"Trinity now I'll teach you a lesson!" the male one with light blue eyes yelled climbing on the table and crumpling another sheet "Bomb coming!"
"I will win the war Kenny!" the little girl with huge blue eyes screamed.
The door swung open without warning
"What are you doing in here?" Mac thundered
"Oh-oh!" the girl said biting her lip "Are you already at home dad?"
"I hope for you that you finished your homework!"
"We have done that!" the boy replied
"What is all this mess in the room?" Mac asked sternly
"We were playing!" the girl replied " Kenny and I are at war! I'm winning!"
"Liar! You were beating a retreat!"
Mac smiled "You really need someone to tell you about military strategy! This place is hell! Not a battlefield!"
The two children looked at him surprised "Aren’t you mad?!"
"Why should I?" Mac answered by taking a ball of paper and throwing it against the girl "I hit Faith!" he laughed.
The boy picked up a ball of paper "I cannot forgive you for hitting my little sister Take this!"
"Two against one is not fair!" Mac retorted throwing paper balls against children "Now I'll show you how a Marine fights!"
The door opened and Christine came crossing her arms
"Well, well, well! Who is the author of this chaos, my dear former Marine?"
Mac laughed "Are you already at home?"
"I could ask you the same question!" Christine said entering "Have you two finished with your homework?"
"Yes mom!" they chorused
"Can I play too?" Christine asked gently
"With me mom!" the boy rejoiced
"No with me!" the girl retorted.
Christine looked away from the fountain "Are those really and McKenna Faith? Is Mac still with us?"
Christine's mother approached her "Keep looking, don’t look away!"
Christine leaned forward.
Mac had bent over next to Faith in the bed below, while Christine settled the blankets to McKenna in the bed above
"Daddy! May you tell us about when you were Marine?" Faith asked
"I have already told you everything!" Mac smiled
"Liar! When we asked you about the scar on your chest today at the seaside you didn’t want to say anything!"
"Kenny!" Christine rebuked him "Don’t talk to your father like that!"
"One day I'll tell you! Now you're too young!" Mac explained
"How did you hurt your leg?" Faith asked
"It didn’t occur when I was in the Marines! It is a story that one day is good for you to know, but..."
"Not today!" McKenna snorted "Is there anything you can tell us? Who is that Danny you were talking about yesterday with mummy?"
"He is the father of Sid and Lucy!" Mac explained
"Sid never talks about his dad!" McKenna said "Not even Lucy does it! They don’t say anything even about their mom!"
"Now that we have told you who Danny is, do you want to sleep?" Christine asked "Tomorrow Jo and Charlot will come to pay us a visit!"
"Okay!" McKenna smiled "Good night!"
"Good night!" Faith echoed
"Sleep well!" Mac said kissing both on the forehead.
Christine stood before the window of the living room and Mac hugged her
"Thank you for helping to heal me!" Mac whispered "The opportunity to grow them with you has been the greatest gift I could get!"
"In good and bad times!" Christine whispered "Did you think that it would have ended such as to your father?"
Mac kissed her "You look tired!"
"Think that today there could have been another earthquake in the house!"
“We could had made it! Together we have been able to do so many things!"
Christine looked away from the fountain
"Is it going to happen for real?"
"Only if you want to!" her Mother told her
"If you wake up!" Millie told her.
Christine put her hand on her chest and her eyes widened "What need is there to beat so strong?!"
"Mac, with the help of Detective Flack, is trying to let your heart beat and make you breathe on your own! They are trying in every way to separate Mac from you! He is persisting in it! Flack has immobilized him his ankle but he cannot do anything for the blood he lost!" Millie looked at Christine fall to the ground
"You're going to wake up! Go to him! Be happy!" her mother greeted her.

Christine jerked up sitting coughing.
Mac looked at her for a moment in disbelief "Christine?"
"My God! Christine can you hear my voice?" Flack asked
"What happened?" Christine asked in a faint voice "Whose is this blood?"
Mac was pale and he was crying "You're alive!" he exclaimed helping her to lie down "For a moment I feared..."
"It didn’t happen, Mac!" she smiled at him.
"I'm going to see if there are paramedics and I’ll give them instructions to reach you here!" Flack said "Soon it will be over!" he said walking away followed by the agents.
Christine looked at blood covered Mac’s face, who was lying next to her, and she twitched her face into an expression of pain
"What do you have, Christine?"
"A terrible stab!" she turned to him crying "We have lost the baby while I received the shock, Mac!"
Before Mac could say anything, a grin broke in and both Mac and Christine shuddered
"J.J.!" Mac exclaimed feeling the barrel of a gun against the temple
"I didn’t escape after the explosion. I didn’t explained you completely how I had done to divide you from your team, it seemed right to me to tell you it before shooting you! I ordered a dwarf serial killer to kill a poor innocent!" he laughed and cocked the gun "Then it's your turn Chris!"
Mac noticed that Christine had something in her left hand leaning against his arm and she was referring to him with her eyes a clear message
"I don’t think you're in good shape J.J.: you're hurt!" Mac exclaimed nudging in J.J.’s shin who fell upon them.
Christine looked J.J. in the eyes with contempt "That was for my son!" she pulled away the knife blade from his abdomen and she showed it to him blood-soaked before plunging it into his shoulder "This was for my family and my friends!" and after removing the knife from his shoulder she planted it him in the chest "See you in hell J.J.!"
J.J. let go and Mac helped Christine to take him away from her. They both remained motionless looking at him, while he breathed His last breath.
Mac saw the paramedics and Flack arrive, he sighed, thankful that it was all over.
Flack was surprised to see J.J. on the ground and he approched to see if he was alive
"You don’t have to explain anything now!" he said putting the index and middle fingers of the right hand on the jugular of J.J. "You are safe once again!"
"What about Sheldon and Danny?" Mac asked as paramedics lowered the stretcher
"Jamie said that Danny is serious and Sheldon… I have no idea how he is!" Flack became gloomy.
Christine blinked for a moment and she sighed, Mac looked at her and closed his eyes
"Mac?" Flack called him.
The paramedics loaded him on the stretcher
"We must take him to the hospital immediately!" the first said
"He needs a blood transfusion!" the second pointed out "I think he fainted because the adrenaline finished doing effect! The leg is in very poor condition!"
Christine looked at Mac’s waxen face while she was secured to the stretcher
"Don’t worry Christine! Mac is a tough nut to crack! You saw him in worse conditions! He will make out with it!" Flack said to her "On what happened while none of us was here I need to know one thing: who killed JJ?"
Christine looked into his eyes "Both of us, even if I knifed him!"
Ambulances sped away fast in the middle of the night toward the hospital.

Adam was with Peyton, Isabella and Angela in the hallway entrance to the ER
"I don’t think it's a good idea Peyton!" Angela insisted
"The best surgeons are busy with Lindsay!" she said putting on a coat "Aubrey won’t make it by herself!"
"But you're anymore a surgeon of the hospital!" Adam reminded her
"I want to help!" she said "I have the skills to do it!"
"It means that you will have to save the lives of Mac and Christine!" Isabella said "I whant help you too!"
"Okay!" Peyton smiled "Get ready, Isabella!"
Adam saw ER’s door open wide "My God!" he exclaimed turning pale.
Angela saw Christine with a weary face and Mac immediately behind her. Seeing them in that condition she hissed seething with anger "What that bastard did them?!"
Mac looked around as he could and he saw the faces of Peyton and Aubrey
"How are the values?" Aubrey asked the paramedics
"The blood pressure is back to normal! We began to give him 550 milliliters of blood!"
"Perfect! Let’s go in radiology for X-ray at the leg and then rapidly in operating room!" Peyton ruled
"There's no time to lose!" Aubrey yelled slightly touching the leg of Mac
"Ouch!" Mac yelled filling with his voice the hallway
"I didn’t think it would hurt you so much!" Peyton exclaimed "I believe that the tibia is fractured and tendons are torn!"
"The x-ray will tell us which bones are involved!" Aubrey said going into radiology.

Jo hung up the phone and started to cry
"Mom! What's going on?" Ellie said approaching
"Danny didn’t... Danny didn’t make it!"
Tyler heard his mother crying and he walked out of the bedroom "What happened?"
"Danny!" Ellie whispered "Do you remember that you came to pick me up at his place two weeks ago?"
"Oh no! Isn’t his wife hospitalized Trinity General?"
Someone knocked at the door of the apartment.
Ellie detached herself from her mother and went to open it "Adam!"
"Hello Ellie! I bring news from the hospital!"
"Come in and sit down!" then she added in a low voice "Tell me that you have only good news!"
"I'd like that!" Adam sighed sitting down next to Jo "But what happened? It seems that someone is dead!"
"Adam..." Jo said looking up "Danny is dead!"
Adam shuddered “Da-Danny? Danny! Danny is dead?!" he took his head in his hands "No, my friend! Who will grow Lucy and Sid?!"
Ellie shuddered "Something happened to Lindsay?"
Adam nodded "She’s back in the operating room! While Christine is in a room now and Mac is in operating room for the leg! He has torn tendons and few fractured bones! Peyton said it was a miracle if they didn’t have to amputate him from mid-tibia to down!"
"At least he is safe!" Jo said "I hope that Sheldon will make out!"
"Have they ordered an autopsy on Danny?" Adam asked in a faint voice
"Yes! They will do it here in New York!" Jo couldn’t stop crying
"I don’t think Peyton will be pleased and neither Isabella!" Adam said "God, Danny! Why?"

Mac walked in his old house in Chicago and he could hear the noises from the street
"Father?" he asked looking outside
"Wow Mac! You really changed!" the man told him approaching the front porch "You're older than when I left! I'm sorry for everything that happened to you in years!" he smiled at him observing him and he added "I met Claire, she told me September 11! Now she went to look for her parents!"
"Haven’t you seen my mother?"
"Your mother is gone?" he asked surprised "I haven’t come to know it!"
Mac sighed "She told me, on his deathbed, of my brother!"
McKenna Boyd Taylor pointed to a child who was returning with a football and Sid "He's your brother! I met your friend and pathologist, Sid shortly after he was gone! Since then, I invited him to stay with us until we would have found some of his relatives! Speaking of relatives, I think you should update me on my grandson! Sid told me that Christine was in the seventh month!"
"In fact they are twins McKenna Stanton and Faith Trinity!"
"I know many things about your new wife thanks to Sid! Here- hence you can inform yourself about the past of those who are still alive by those who arrive here and then you observe people in the world of the living of you have heard, now I can also see your children: Faith looks more like you than McKenna!" McKenna Boyd Taylor looked Mac to blush "Christine has always been honest with you! She has always shown for what she really is! Tell her that she can also leave the mask of the brave and fearless agent that she has built over the years! With the death of Jonathan Harris Jason she's officially out of any humbug!"
"Was it because of J.J. if she could not leave the FBI?" Mac asked noticing Sid and the child he carried on his shoulders reach the front steps
"Mac! How nice to see you again after so long! I met your father and your brother!" he said placing the child on the ground "I know you're here only provisionally and thankfully! In the world of the living things are taking place! I have to go to pick Danny up and hope I don’t have to stop for Lindsay!"
Mac shivered while Boyd watched him
"Mac! Don’t you remember anything about the two of us?"
Mac looked at the boy "I don’t remember anything! I'm sorry!" he observed him "You're identical to me when I was your age!"
"Here you cannot grow physically! Boyd makes the same reasoning of an adult and he expresses himself as such, but because of the body as a child he cannot walk fast!" McKenna Boyd Taylor explained
"Tell me about Danny!" Mac exclaimed "Is he really gone?"
"Why don’t you talk to him directly?" Sid said pointing to Danny stepped forward "It seems that I don’t have to go looking for him..."
"Mac?! Sid?!" Danny exclaimed "Where am I?"
"You're just dead!" Sid said abrupt
"What?" Danny was shocked "No! It’s not true! Please tell me that's a joke! Are you dead too, Mac?"
"No! I am in the operating room!"
"I want to go back!" Danny began to cry "Lindsay and my children need me!"
"You cannot Danny! We'd all returned!" Sid exclaimed "Do we want to show Mac why he is here for?"
McKenna Boyd Taylor looked at Mac "I know that my same disease is likely to kill you! At the moment you still cannot be submitted to surgery! A hard time is waiting for you!"
Boyd took the hand of Mac "This way, brother!" he said pulling him towards the street and taking him to a strange northern lights
"You must know that it’s not over! The FBI mole will also be dead, but the Islamic terrorist will find other Americans willing to betray their country if you do not stop him!" McKenna Boyd Taylor explained to his son
"It’s not for this reason which however now you have to look in there! It’s the family that you've built with Christine the real reason and the fact that soon you will have to help Lucy and the little Sid!" Sid explained.
Mac began to look into the colors of the northern lights and shapes came alive within it, until they become clearly distinct visions.

Angela was sitting next to Christine
"How are you feeling?"
"In pieces! How are Kenny and Faith?"
Angela patted her hand "They’re fine! Your father says that they don’t give any kind of problem!"
"Mac?"
"He's out of surgery! Soon he will wake up from the anesthesia!" she clouded "Adam told me that Danny hasn’t make it! Sheldon is now out of the operating room and no one knows if it will arrive until tomorrow!"
"Oh my God!" Christine sighed closing her eyes
"I grew fond of Danny and Sheldon is a trusted friend! If he also would have to...”
"Danny is dead and Sheldon... I cannot stand that all these lives have been shattered because of me! If only I had discovered that J.J. was... At this time nobody one would get hurt and nobody would have died! Mac and I have lost our son and he almost lost me! I am the only real responsible for this!"
"Don’t charge yourself with faults not yours! You knew J.J. better than anyone, but not his true nature! I'm not surprised that you didn’t notice anything!"

Mac saw the Northern Lights McKenna surrounded by some kids at school and Faith huddled in a corner of the yard
"Taylor wanted to be a hero!"
"Taylor wanted to help his little sister!"
"Taylor now will learn a lesson!"
The children began to grasp McKenna from all directions and they slid him to the ground. One of them began to kick him and the others imitated him. Before one of the teachers could arrive the children carted away McKenna and Faith and they flung them at the foot of the fire escape
"The twins took a tumble!" one of them laughed "Is it clear, scums of the earth?"
A little boy ran to the twins “Help me! Two of my friends got hurt!" he leaned next to McKenna "Kenny! It’s Sid! Answer me!"
"Sid..." Faith replied breathing hard "Help us!"
"Don’t worry Trinity! Your father will fix everything!"
Sid smiled to Faith and he took her hand, she squeezed the one of Sid and they sat in silence looking at each other in the eyes.
The vision blurred for a moment and the scenery changed: Mac was in a hospital room watching the son lying in a bed unconscious
"I know that you didn’t fall down the stairs under which they have found you! Your sister goes on to say that this is so and also you will say that when you wake up! It is useless because I know what the truth is and I also know the names of those who did you this!" he patted him affectionately on the cheek "I'll teach you how we protect yourselves, but forget to get your hands on oriental arms, especially on my Katana!"
"I've always preferred the Hamidashi that you keep over grandmother's furniture to Katana!" McKenna whispered opening his eyes and reaching out a hand to his father.
Mac gently squeezed his son's hand "I'm glad you awake!"
The scenery changed again: Mac was in the hallway of a hospital holding the hand of a black girl pregnant.
"So, Charlot? How are you?" Mac asked
"Bad! Tell me that Ken is coming!"
"He is with Christine, Faith, and your mother!" Mac reassured her
"Is Faith on leave?" Charlot asked stopping.
Mac stopped with her looking into her eyes "She said that it was important to see the birth of his nephew!"
"To think that I wanted to graduate in Biology! I finished my exams just in time!" Charlot sighed
"You'll see that you manage to do that too! You have a whole family ready to help you! Anything yet?"
"No!" he sighed and looked Charlot "At last they have arrived!" she exclaimed seeing Mckenna rushing to them "You were at the Academy, wasn’t you?" she asked seeing him in the cadet uniform
"Yes, but now I'm here!" he replied turning to his father to greet him "Chief Taylor, thanks for helping Charlot!"
"Hello Daddy!" Faith greeted advancing "Taking a license has not been easy! Sometimes it’s sufficient using your name instead! You still be one respectable figure!" she smiled adjusting her blond and wavy hair.
Mac hugged her daughter "The uniform flatters you!"
"Dad! Everyone is looking at us!" Faith said jokingly "Don’t make me regret to have enlisted the Marine Corps!"
Christine went to the daughter and she took the hand of Charlot "Your mother stopped by the doctor! How are you?"
"Bad! Luckily there was Mac in the house! I don’t know how I would have done otherwise!" the girl made an insincere smile and she took a deep breath "How long it will go on like this?!"
Jo walked over her daughter and took her hand "Honey!"
"Mom! I thought you had stopped to talk with the doctor!"
"Indeed! He said that soon you should be ready!" she turned to McKenna, who was substituted to Mac alongside Charlot "You know that now you will have to take responsibility of your son officially?"
"Yes, Jo!" McKenna nodded
"Have you decided how to name the baby?" Christine asked.
McKenna and Charlot looked into their eyes, she was panting but she did not stop smiling and together they exclaimed "Sheldon Mac Taylor!"
The vision disappeared and Mac looked at those who had accompanied him there with surprise
"What does all this mean?"
"They are the shadows of your future!" Boyd explained "And I think now you have to go!"
Danny walked over to Mac and embraced him crying "I love you! Take a good care of Lucy and Sid!"
"I will deal with them as if they were my children, Danny!" he hugged him crying "We shall meet again!"
Sid shook hands with Mac "Thank you for my daughter!"
"I owe it to you and then she really is a brilliant girl! You never told me that she had graduated five years ahead of schedule!"
Sid crossed his arms "Well, she has never wanted to boast of it! She considers herself an ordinary girl and it's better this way!" he put a hand on his shoulder "You must do in such a way as your stepson won’t make her suffer!" he admonished him.
McKenna Boyd Taylor hugged his son "Look at our house! There are a bunch of your Boyd’s things! You must get back your memories!"
Mac nodded "I'll do it! As soon as I retire I will move there!" he looked at everyone one last time "Will we meet again?"
"We hope as late as possible!" Sid commented.

When Mac opened his eyes, he saw Jo beside his bed
"Jo!" he called in a faint voice
"Mac!" she said with tears in his eyes "How do you feel?"
"Dazed!" he replied "What happened while I was not conscious?"
"Danny and Lindsay..." Jo began to cry "They haven’t made it!"
"Then I seriously talked to Danny!" Mac whispered without being heard.
Jo looked at the phone "I want to know how Sheldon is! Why they don’t call me?!"
"Christine!" Mac exclaimed seeing her to come in "You should be to rest! What are you doing up?"
"Mac, I'm fine!" she assured him sitting down next to him "It’s you who is worse of the two now!"
"What day is it?" Mac asked
"It's May 3rd! It’s 23:50! Flack found out where the terrorists takes refuge this afternoon! He is going with Jamie to catch him!"
Mac looked down at his leg "I want to go to Lindsay!"
"With that splint you're going nowhere!" Dr. Aubrey Hunter said entering "I'd like to know how do you expect to get up! You have almost in danger of losing the leg, Mac!"
"I just want to see Lindsay before they do the autopsy!" Mac protested "Please!"
"I'll go to get Peyton!" Aubrey was about to leave the room "Do you want to follow me, Mrs. Taylor? I must talk to you..."

Flack and Jamie got out of the car and they looked around
"Nice place to come to take refuge! It's been abandoned for years!" she said
"I still cannot believe that who has planned all this was four and a half hours from New York!" Flack said watching his men "Have you notified the authorities of Willard city?"
"Yes, and they sent some of their men!" the officer replied
"Let's go!" Flack announced firmly.
Jamie and Flack entered from one of the entrances while other cops covered other revenue getting ready to shoot.
"Look!" Jamie exclaimed "It's him!"
Flack looked up at the stairs where Jamie indicated
"Wait to take action!" Flack whispered "If there's a bomb ready to explode we'll never know it!"
"It's going to lower floors!"
"On that side there’s the morgue!" Flack explained
"How do you know?"
"As a child I was obsessed with this place!"
Jamie and Flack followed the man and when they saw that he had opened a cupboard to take a M-17 rifle they pointed guns at him
“Abdul al Scherif! You're under arrest! Put down gun on the ground!" Flack shouted
The man smirked "I knew you'd come! Now what will you do? Will you take me to New York?"
"Yes! The FBI and the U.S. government will take care of you!" Flack said approaching to handcuff him
"Detective Lovato-Flack! We have the subject! We will leave to New York immediately!"

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere

Mac was in front of Lindsay sitting on a wheelchair
"I'm so sorry Lindsay! I still cannot explain myself how this is possible! You are one of the smartest colleagues I have ever had and an irreplaceable friend!" the tears ran down his cheeks and he took her hand" I promise you I'll take care of Sid and Lucy exactly as Danny asked me!”

Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

"Mac..." Christine called him coming closer "They have to take her to Isabella..."
Mac tightened his grip on Lindsay's hand and he looked up at Christine, she was crying.
Christine approached him, she cuddled up to Mac bending over him and she sobbed "It's not fair!"
Mac leaned his head on Christine's shoulder and he left Lindsay’s hand "No! It’s not!" he turned to Christine and then he looked at Lindsay one last time "We miss you already!" he said covering her face with the sheet.

Mad world
Mad world

Flack made Abdul al Scherif stepping into your car and he started the engine
"Do you know? I thought that searching you we would have found explosives and bombs ready to explode! I'm surprised that it’s not so!"
"Even to me it seemed strange!" Jamie remarked at his side while the car left the Willard Asylum.
Abdul al Scherif laughed as soon as the car entered at full speed on NY-96A N / North St "You can say goodbye to you!" the terrorist hissed from behind "I have a bomb in my stomach that you weren’t able to find and in a few seconds it will explode!"
"What?" Flack tried to slow down "Get out immediately, Jamie!"
The car on which they were exploded and the flames rose high into the sky.

Jo was in Mac’s room, her eyes swollen and her cell phone on her ear.
Mac, in bed, was waiting impatiently for her to hang up.
Jo hasn’t yet opened her mouth and she listened with tears which were almost preventing her from breathing
"Thank you for letting me know it!" she sobbed and hung up. She turned her gaze to Mac, she saw him worried "Flack and Jamie's car exploded just entered on NY-96A N / North St!"
Mac shivered "Tell me that they are still alive!"
Jo shook her head and Mac began to cry silently.

Adam hugged Angela out of the morgue
"Why is this happening?"
Adam didn’t answer Angela’s question and he held her even more.
Peyton appeared from the hallway and sat down next to them "We ended up with Lindsay! They will inform me as soon as Danny's body will come!"
Adam sighed "Jo called us and she said that even Flack and Jamie...”
Peyton looked at Adam, but by the expression he had, it was clear that he wasn’t joking "How did it happen?"
"The car in which they were traveling exploded!"
Isabella left the building of the Crime Lab and she headed for the cabs stand
"Isabella!" a voice she knew well stopped her
"Reed!"
The young man hugged her "I came home recently and as soon as I could I called you, but you didn’t answer! In the newsroom they told me that Mac is at the hospital, they didn’t want tell me anything else!"
"While you were in London, many things have happened! I'm going to the hospital by the others before the arrival of Danny's body!"
"Danny Messer?" Reed asked surprised
"Terrible things have happened!" Isabella said sobbing in the arms of Reed
"I have the car parked behind here! Let's go to the hospital together!"

Friday, May 16th, New York, at 8:50
"Mac are you ready?" Christine asked leaning against the doorframe of the bedroom and seeing him sitting on the bed lean forward she went into "Mac..." she called him with gentleness stepping and kneeling down before him "We have to go, you know it!"
"I still don’t believe it!" he said with a blank stare "I have spent so many years in that lab! The force that pushed me to solve cases wasn’t only my sense of integrity and justice, it was my team!"
Christine took his hands "Do you remember last summer when we went to the lake all together that we had to come back in the afternoon because they had assigned a case to you and Danny?"
"Yes!" Mac nodded
"Remember that moment today! Because that's what will give you the strength to utter the speech!"
Christine took with her right hand of the Mac crutches from the wall and she stared into his eyes
"I'm ready!" he said caressing her one cheek to wipe away a tear "Don’t cry! It wasn’t your fault!"
"I could make sure that half of what happened wouldn’t had happen! I have been an idiot!"
Mac put his crutches on the bed and hugged her "You're not an idiot! You are the person that is giving me the strength to face all of this!"

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

Jo hugged Mac as he walked with crutches in her direction
"Thank you for having agreed to hold the speech, seriously I cannot go on with it!"
Mac looked at the rest of the people around him in the meadow: Christine was with his father in the front row and they had the twins in their arms. Two empty seats next, there were Adam, the little Cristina, Angela and Isabella, sitting next to them the father of Lindsay who was holding the hand of Lucy while Sid was in the arms of Danny's mother. There were also Samantha Flack with her grandmother and Jamie’s brothers, who had just arrived, they sat down beside them.
Tears were plentiful and no one could stop them.
Jo looked at the five coffins on the lawn, each one wrapped in an American flag, and she stroked the nearest one affectionately
"I miss him, Mac!"
Mac let her embrace him and he closed his eyes, giving free rein to silent tears.
It was impossible to restrain himself and simply remain serious, even Sinclair was crying a few rows back.

No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

Mac came to sit next to Christine and he tried to smile at Lucy, who looked at him with her bleary eyes, and he squeezed her hand to give her courage while having a disheartened face as her own.
Jo sat down, standing behind her there were Tyler and Ellie, both shocked and hurt.
The priest began to celebrate funeral ritual, all those words seemed muted. No one was able to stay focused on the face of the priest, the coffins in front of them were a strong magnet.
It was impossible for Jo taking her eyes off, especially from one of them. Lucy had been held in place by her grandfather, she had tried several times to reach the coffins of her parents. Christine held McKenna in her arms who looked the scene in silence while her father was holding Faith, more curious than his brother.

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

The priest pronounced a sentence, "Now I'll let you pay tribute to the departed!"
Mac took a deep breath and stood up, he took her to the center of green space, with difficulty on crutches, for a while he stared at the coffins in silence, trying to hold back tears, and when he was ready he turned , leaving the coffins behind him.

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you!

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

Mac looked at those present, all had turned their attention to him, he took a deep breath, looking up and blinking back tears. His voice was the only sound that filled the air in that moment
"You all know what it means to be part of the NYPD, but I want to remind you that: it means to be a protector of the city, of the people who live in it and to be at the service of our own country to honor it!
For all my life I followed a guideline of three points, three things that I'll protect at any cost: the honor of this country, the safety of this city and the integrity of the crime lab.
Today this country is crying the loss of brave and honorable cops!
I’ll pronounce their names because they won’t be never forgot: Det. Donald Flack, Det. Jamie Lovato Flack, Det. Danny Messer, Det. Lindsay Monroe Messer!
They have always reminded me that, as scientists, we have a great deal of power, the ability to assign guilt or innocence. They perfect command this power in an impeccable way!
They taught me the value of friendship and it’s thanks to them that our team has done what it has done all these years!" he looked at everyone staring him with tears in his eyes "We see death in the face every day! Danny once had done a thought about death, he told me: - I can't wrap my head around it, Mac. You get up... go to work... see the people that you know... you talk, you laugh... you're living your life. And then suddenly, boom. It's just over. Just like that. And you never even saw it coming. -” he paused again to repress her tears and maintain a serious and solemn voice “Their courage and their strength will always be with us! Remember what they have done for us! Only in this way, they wouldn’t have died in vain and they will always have a special place in our hearts!"
Mac returned to his seat and the bagpipes began to play, but for him it was all silence.

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

The shots that were fired to commemorate the departed didn’t seem to be heard by anyone and Mac drifted to a flood of tears, like all those closest to the victims.

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

At the end of the ceremony, Mac saw Isabella stop on the another grave
"I miss your father too!" Mac told her behind her making her turn by jump
"I didn’t hear you coming! I'm sorry!" she said "How's the leg?"
"Better! It annoys me at any time, but I think the fact that in the end I'm still alive!"
Isabella put her hand above his one "Promise me you won’t leave us too!"
"It's a promise that I cannot make, Isabella! You are graduated in medicine, you should know it!" he looked into her eyes "I can promise you one thing: I won’t surrender and I will fight cancer!"
"The others and I will be there to help you!"
"First we have to help Jo! In September, the baby girl will be born and she needs our presence!" he looked in the direction of the coffins and he saw an eagle to land in front of them "I thought I would never see that eagle again!"
The raptor rose into the air and landed alongside of Mac. The eagle and Mac looked at each other: Mac’s blue eyes reflected the yellow ones of the bird of prey which did not move.
Isabella watched the scene with wide eyes.

From afar Christine and Jo watched the eagle fly up and disappear among the skyscrapers of Manhattan
"Thank you for being here!" Jo said looking at the point where the eagle was gone
"If only I had stopped J.J. when I could do it!"
"It wasn’t your fault! Also you have risked dying and you lost your team, not to mention that Mac owes his life to you!" Jo looked at Mac and Isabella greet each other.
Christine took Jo's hand "Mac and I'll be there forever! We won’t let you alone!"
"I promise you I will help you! Mac will be healed!"
"We all need Mac!" Christine asserted.

Adam came up with Cristina to the coffins and Angela joined them
"The speech of the Mac was touching!" Angela remarked
"Yeah!" replied Adam "Jo’s gaze was a gaze so full of pain! I will do my best to help her!"
"I'll do it too! What will happen to Lucy and Sid?"
"They're going to live at the home of Danny's mother and they will spend the summer in Montana by Lindsay's father!"
Angela shook hands with Adam and she looked Cristina looking at the coffins without saying anything
"You also need help, Adam! I want to be your friend! Whatever you need, I want you to know that you can count on me!"
Adam squeezed back "Thank you!"

That evening, Mac, Jo and what was left of the team found themselves at the bar
"I will miss those Danny’s hateful jokes in the lab!" Adam said.
Mac sighed "I’ll miss Flack’s sadist humor and how Jamie silenced him!"
"I will miss not seeing the smiling face of Lindsay, all the times that she could carry a evidence relevant to the case and, of course, Danny’s -Boom!-!" Angela said
"I will miss the chats with Sheldon while arranging the paperwork! From philosophical ones to those on the lives of every day!" Isabella decreed.
Jo lifted his glass of water "I will miss to no longer be able to live experiences with them, their smiles, their jokes..." she smiled bitterly "I'd like to remind everyone here today that we are still a team and a group of friends! We will find the strength to get up and, remembering what Mac said today at the cemetery, they will have a special place in our hearts! We mustn’t forget!"
After the toast, they went out into the dark streets of Manhattan and they walked to the lab.
Just arrived down there, they hastened to enter and go into the Mac’s office where everyone pulled out a letter from bags or jackets and Adam took a cardboard box marked –Evidence- from under the table
"If they know that we took a evidence box by the lab, they’ll fire us!" Mac smiled
"It'll be our secret! No one else but us and our families will know about this box!" Jo explained "I will start!" she said by placing her open letter inside the box
-Dear all,
When all this happened I felt the Earth slipping off by my feet!
I used to think that anything would have divided us, I thought that we would arrived to our retirement and enjoy our time together! It didn’t happened and it won’t!
I hope that, wherever you are now, you can be happy!
Lovely,
Jo-
Adam came forward and he laid his letter in the box
-Guys,
What I want to say you is: thank you!
Thank you for the moments that we spent in and outside the lab!
Thank you for your words and for the laughs!
Thank you to have been close to me in the hardest period of my life!
Sincerely yours,
Adam-
"Looks like it's our turn!" Isabella told to Angela
-Dear Guys,
When we joined the team we felt immediately that you were more than simples colleagues!
It was a moment where everything was changing in our lives and you welcomed us in the best way possible!
We wished to spend more time with you! We hope to be back together one day!
Best wishes,
Isabella
Angela-
Mac smiled "I'm the last one!"
-Friends of mine,
What happened is so hard to face!
I never considered you like simple friends but like members of my family!
I remember every moment spent with you: when for the first time I worked with Danny, when Lindsay arrived in New York and she had to manage with a tiger, when Flack was upgraded, when Sheldon used to work only at the morgue and when Jamie came to our district!
To lose you is like to have lost a part of my heart! This wound will never recover!
But I promise you that I would never surrender!
I’ll keep doing my job remembering you!
I’ll take care of Lucy, Sid and Charlot every day of my life!
This is not a farewell! It’s a see you soon!
With all my love,
Mac-

In the box was also placed a photo taken at the Christmas party at Isabella’s place.
The team went on the terrace of the New York Crime Lab to hide the box, protected from the weather.
An eagle came by there and she stopped staring at them from the ledge before resuming the flight.
Jo looked at Mac move with crutches towards the ledge and follow the raptor with his eyes
"What are you doing?"
Mac took his eyes off the eagle, which was flying in circles above them, and he turned to Jo
"I think I've got it!"
"What?" Adam asked
"A Native American legend says that the Eagles live until seventy years, but to do so, around forty years, they have to face one hundred and fifty days of suffering due to the long beak and claws and swollen feathers! After those one hundred and fifty days, spent to shorten the beak, to tear feathers and claws and to wait for the new to grow, the eagle starts to fly again. After pain and labor, the sky still belong to her!"
The eagle landed next to Mac and looked into his eyes
"There is something magical in that look!" Jo remarked.
The eagle came over to where the box was hidden and she dropped a violet on the closed lid and then taking flight and come up her scream in the night, between the skyscrapers of New York City. The group looked at her disappear.
The members of the team turned a last look at the box before leaving the roof and back onto the streets
"See you tomorrow!" Mac assured
"Wait for us at your place!" Adam smiled "Be close to Christine, she's a good woman!"
Angela and Isabella walked away with Adam, while Jo stood side by side with Mac and they reached a cabs stop
"Ellie asked me to go to sleep by a friend's place, to not be left alone in the house!" Jo said suddenly
"Then come to my place! You won’t spend the night alone!" Mac hugged her
"I will have the opportunity to see Kenny and Faith for a whole night!"
Jo put her ear to Mac’s heart "Now I understand why Christine loves it!" she closed her eyes "I have a request for when my daughter will be born!"
"Tell me as well!" Mac whispered
"I wish you and Christine to be there! I thought you could be her godparents! I would like that after me to pick her up is you with Christine!"
"It would be an honor for me to be the godfather of Sheldon's daughter!" Mac said, coming down out of the cab with Jo.

When they entered the apartment of the Mac, they were greeted by Christine who embraced Jo and she kissed Mac gently on his lips.
Mac sat down on the couch and Christine immediately set Faith, who was crying, in his arms.
Jo smiled and began to caress Faith while Mac was trying to calm her down. Soon after McKenna woke up and Christine was helped by Jo to change his nappy.
The three looked at the children to fall asleep and Christine put them in their cots.
Jo looked at Mac and then at Christine "Thank you for letting me to stay here with you!"
"Do not joke around it, Jo!" Christine tried to hold back the tears "We are pleased that you are here!"
"So, will you be the godparents of Charlot Stella Claire Sidney?"
"I think a godson more for Mac doesn’t make any difference, as for me is: yes! Yes, I want to be the godmother of your daughter! Sheldon's daughter..."
Christine sat down at the right hand of Mac and Jo to his left, he stretched out his arms and the three embraced. They stayed that way for several minutes until they fell asleep too, tired and heartbroken.
Meanwhile, Peyton had just landed in London with little Aubrey
"You'll see that you’re going to love here!" Peyton exclaimed looking towards a man "There is also Grandpa!"
He stopped for a second and she sent a message to Mac mobile:
-I arrived in London with Abbey. It's all right. I'm sorry to have had to cross the ocean and leave you alone. I'll come back when my mother gets better. Say hello to everyone from me.-
The cell phone vibrated, but Mac went on to sleep on the couch with Christine and Jo.
On the other side of New York, in his bed Adam clutched Cristina to himself trying in vain to get to sleep when the cell phone vibrated
"Angela? Cannot you sleep?" he asked trivially
"Neither do you it would seem!" she retorted "Can I reach you? My house is too empty!"
Adam wiped his tears "I’ll wait for you!"
A several blocks away, Lucy looked at the flag bent over the desk in her room from her bed, she stood up and she took it like a teddy bear
"Mom, Mom! There's a vampire under my bed!" she exclaimed in a low voice crying "Will Daddy come to kick him out?"

Also this Friday night draws to an end with the realization that life will never be the same: the pain of the loss is a pain that will never fade.
The box of memories is what has been and what will never be forgotten. Only Mac, Jo, Adam, Isabella and Angela can access the content and re-read the letters.
That box will continue to be there at the Crime Lab, it will be until the last of them won’t retire, and it will remind to each of them what it means to be a cop and CSI of New York City, what it means to be part of that family.

The End
